COVID-19 Update - March 2020
HOW WILLMOTTS ARE KEEPING THE WHEELS MOVING DURING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK
With the impact of the virus now escalating, we are constantly monitoring government advice and information with the safety of our employees, contractors and customers at the forefront of all activities during this difficult period. Road freight is classed as an essential activity and our aim is to keep our business running as close to normal as usual.
We have all seen how important it is for both consumers and suppliers that supply chains continue to be maintained and we will support our customers to the utmost of our ability in ensuring that we meet service requirements.
Government advice is that there is no increased risk from handling freight itself, either pallets, cartons, or labels and we are adhering closely to the guidelines on hygiene and social distancing. We have sanitisers at all sites and continue to remind employees of the importance of hand hygiene.
We are not accepting any drivers on site from Category 1 or 2 countries on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s list of travel restrictions. All delivering drivers must declare that they have not visited any of these countries and that they have no symptoms of Covid-19, and should remain in their cabs whilst on site.
Our own Willmotts’ drivers are asked to be aware of and abide by any new site rules put in place by companies we collect from and deliver to, including restrictions on the canteen facilities, toilets and smoking areas and to remain in their cab as much as possible when loading and offloading. In order to protect both our people and customers, we will refrain from using hand-held devices to capture signatures. Drivers will instead log the name of the person accepting the item. This applies to all deliveries that require a signature.
All face-to-face meetings that are not business-critical are being postponed, with electronic and telephone communication instead.
Please be assured that we will continue to do everything possible to ensure continuity of service as we all work through a situation that is unparalleled in our lifetime. If necessary, we will adapt and evolve our work policies in the coming weeks in line with Government advice to support all our employees, customers and contractors.
If you need any further information on how we are approaching any specific situation, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind Regards,
Willmotts Transport Ltd
