SHEQ Manager

Willmotts Transport is one of the largest independent warehousing and distribution companies in the South West, based just outside of Shepton Mallet, near Bristol. Due to continued success and growth, we are looking for a SHEQ Manager to join our friendly team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigating and reporting accidents, incidents and near misses and recommended improvements implemented

  • Presenting Company inductions and tool-box talks. Source, plan and deliver training to employees as required to recognised/ acceptable standards.

  • Ensure that rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems are in place and followed across the organisation

  • Identify, provide and/or procure an effective health and safety related training regime

  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure the systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements

  • Compliance across all sites and equipment, ensuring a safe workplace environment without risk to health

  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulation are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.

  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed, and employees are aware of their responsibilities.

  • Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.

  • Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.

  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business

  • Responsible for developing, revising and implementing quality standards and policies within the business

  • Undertake regular site SHEQ inspections and audits in keeping with an agreed programme in all operating regions and report accordingly.

  • Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and consistently meeting the required certified business standards are also their responsibility. (BRC, ISO, Soil)

  • Perform quality assessments

  • Train employees on quality measures and company policies

  • Coordinate and direct the implementation of new standards into practice

  • To upload all legislation requirements within the quality system

Key Competencies:

  • A sound knowledge and understanding of current health & safety legal requirements and the candidate should have a recognised safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH or NVQ

  • Strong Communication skills

  • Great attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Capability to report correct information to colleagues

  • Ability to attend and contribute to health and safety meetings at site and Company level.

  • After 2 year’s unbroken service employees will receive an additional day’s holiday which will increase by an extra day (pro rata where necessary) after each additional full years’ service up to a maximum of 3 days.

Additional Details:

  • Hours of work 08:00 – 17:0 to include a 30-minute lunch break (42.5 hours per week)
