New Scanias joining the Willmotts’ fleet

Our new Scanias have had the sign writing applied and are now being fitted out for the electrics on the Fleet Management System (FMS) which provides a real-time interface for transfer of vehicle data and satellite tracking information back to our transport office team.

Also being fitted are 360 degree recordable cameras and side scan technology which alerts the driver to cyclists or other road users who may be unseen on the nearside of the vehicle.

This extra level of safety is required to comply with the Direct Vision Standard (DVS) for any vehicles over 12 tonnes travelling into the Greater London area but is also a great example of how the transport industry is capturing the benefits of technology to protect vulnerable road users.
