HGV Mechanic

Willmotts Transport is one of the largest independent warehousing and distribution companies in the Southwest and due to continued success, growth and expansion of our fleet, we are now looking to recruit Level 3 Qualified Mechanic to join our friendly workshop team just outside of Shepton Mallet, near Bristol.

The successful applicant will be working directly under our Workshop Manager in our own modern workshop on our own fleet, as well as some third-party vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

Working on a mixture of vehicles, the successful applicant will be required to undertake all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair:

  • 6 weekly vehicle inspections.

  • 6 - 12 weekly trailer inspections.

  • General servicing and pre-planned maintenance.

  • Reactive maintenance as required.

  • MOT preparation & presentation.

  • Correction of running defects.

  • Full vehicle overhauls / engine and gear box repairs

  • Tyre work

  • Fault finding and Diagnosis

  • Local breakdowns (fully equipped workshop van)

  • Working to DVSA standards

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Be apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or equivalent

  • Previous experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter is essential

  • LGV licence C + E desirable

  • Able to work as part of a team and alone

  • Capability to report correct information to colleagues

  • You will thrive in a fast-paced environment
