CAREERS AT WILLMOTTS
Work with us
Logistics is about more than moving goods.
It’s about people doing the right thing, day in and day out - often behind the scenes.
At Willmotts, we know our business only works because of the people in it. From drivers and warehouse teams to planners, managers and support staff, everyone plays a part in keeping customers moving and standards high.
We’re proud of our heritage, but we’re just as focused on creating a workplace that works for today.
-
We don’t overcomplicate things.
We believe in:
Treating people with respect
Clear communication and support when things change
Doing the basics properly, consistently
Taking pride in the job - whatever your role
Many of our people have chosen to build long‑term careers with us and that’s no accident. We create an environment where people know where they stand, feel genuinely supported, and are trusted to do their jobs well. That clarity and trust help our people thrive, grow, and stay.
-
Willmotts operates across transport, warehousing and distribution, supporting customers in FMCG, food & drink, retail and specialist sectors.
That means our roles may be varied, but our expectations are consistent. We’re looking for people who:
Care about what they do and take pride in their work
Look out for each other and act with mutual respect
Take responsibility and follow through
Value being part of a team built on reliability and professionalism
Whether you’re on the road, in the warehouse or in the office, you’re part of one business, working towards the same goal.
-
We’re committed to developing our people and investing in the skills that keep our operations strong - now and for the long term.
At Willmotts, progression isn’t about titles or ticking boxes. It’s about building capability, confidence and experience over time, in real operational environments.
That includes:
Ongoing training and development across operational and office-based roles
Opportunities to grow within the business as responsibilities evolve
Support for gaining relevant qualifications
Apprenticeships and early-career pathways into logistics
Continued investment in systems, equipment and working environments
We believe in developing people from within wherever possible, and many of our colleagues have progressed by learning on the job, gaining qualifications and taking on new responsibilities as the business has grown.
Progression at Willmotts is built on attitude, commitment and practical capability - and we’re proud to support those who want to build long-term careers with us.
-
While benefits vary by role, we focus on creating a working environment where people feel supported and valued.
This includes:
Well-maintained vehicles, equipment and facilities
A strong focus on safety and wellbeing
Clear processes and planning
A culture that values consistency, care and professionalism

Hear from our team…
Paul Bargely – Tramper Driver
Paul has been with Willmotts for 14 years and is now into his 15th - working Monday to Friday as a tramper driver covering routes across the UK, Ireland and occasionally Europe.
“I wanted to drive artics and do tramper work - staying out during the week and travelling. That’s what appealed to me.”
Paul started on the container side before moving across to general haulage, where he now handles a mix of UK distribution and some overseas work.
“Every week’s slightly different. Some days you’re loading for Scotland, other days Ireland - today I’m waiting to load for Germany. That variety is part of what keeps it interesting.”
Transport doesn’t always run exactly to plan, but for Paul, that’s where experience counts.
“You learn to plan properly and stay calm when things change. Traffic, delays - it’s just part of the job. The office team understands what it’s like on the road and they listen.”
He enjoys the independence that comes with the role.
“You’re trusted to get on with your job. You know what you’re doing and you’re left to do it properly.”
The lifestyle suits him too.
“I like travelling around the country and I don’t mind the nights out. My family are used to it - and weekends are for home.”
Paul also highlights the investment in the fleet.
“The lorries are all up to date. They’ve invested in the vehicles and that makes a difference.”
After more than a decade with the business, what stands out most?
“I’ve always got on well with the team and management. It’s straightforward - you’re treated fairly and you’re trusted.”
It’s even become something of a family connection, with Paul’s son now working in the warehouse.
Fourteen years on, Willmotts isn’t just somewhere he works - it’s somewhere that’s worked for him.
Paul shared this photo from one of his recent jobs - transporting stage framework from a festival in Manchester.
